Part-time Business Advisor

Overview
Are you passionate about business and want to see the Peace Region grow? We are seeking a detail-oriented and caring Business Analyst to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying business client needs, analyzing financial data, and providing actionable insights to support decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong time management and communication skills with a solid understanding of small business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Analyst Duties are Directed & Supervised by the General Manager

Prepare and provide business information packages as required to clients.
Provide initial client intake and assess client readiness for a loan application.
Prepare and present loan requests to the CFPC Board of Directors.
Maintain regular client contact and aftercare.
Explore client development initatives.
Perform other related duties as may be assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS

Highly developed organizational and time management skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Spelling, grammar, structure.
Attention to detail.
Superior capability of composition, editing and proofreading.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely; effective telephone, listening and relationship building skills.
Working knowledge of computer network technology, Windows environment, Microsoft Office Suite, Excel Spreadsheets.
Ability to work effectively and independently within an active environment.
Ability to anticipate problems, generate solutions, and take action within scope of position.
Present new ideas that have productive outcomes.
This position will require specialized training via internt learning and/or in-person learning opportunities as provided through the Community Futures Network of Alberta and/or Community Futures Pan-West Leadership Institute.
This position will occasionally involve travel and occasional over-night trips. A valid Alberta Driver’s License is required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Grade 12 diploma, experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in an office setting. Prior business experience, including an understanding of small business bookkeeping, is an asset.

Lemonade Day2Mark your calendars for June 14th and be sure to get out and support our local youth setting up lemonade stands at various businesses in the Town of Peace River and the Town of Fairview. Lemonade Day teaches youth how to start, own, and operate their own business, fostering the next generation of business leaders, social advocates, community volunteers, and forward-thinking citizens. Community Futures Peace Country3 is grateful to be involved again, with the support of the Town of Fairview and the Fairview Chamber of Commerce. During this process, students will be provided training and will develop a business plan, get a business license and work with business owners to secure their lemonade stand location. We are taking part in our first organizational meeting next week with other communities in Alberta also taking part in this important initiative for local youth. Watch our Facebook Page for updates! Entrepreneurship Bursary

Community Futures Peace Country Entrepreneurship Bursary

Community Futures Peace Country is a community-driven, non-profit organization staffed by business professionals and guided by a volunteer Board of Directors, providing a wide range of small business services and business management tools for people wanting to start, expand, franchise or sell a business. CFPC also hosts several specialized business programs, organizes business events, and actively works with community and business leaders to foster rural economic growth.

This bursary provided by Community Futures Peace Country is open to grade 12 students who reside and intend to open a business within Community Futures Peace Country (CFPC) boundaries (see community listing below). One applicant will be selected from the entire CFPC boundaries. The successful applicant will receive a $1000 bursary and one hour of business mentorship provided by Community Futures Peace Country. This bursary is designed to support entrepreneurial endeavors which in turn boosts community vitality and spirit. 

Criteria

1. Completed Business Plan – template can be found at https://peacecountry.albertacf.com/resources

2. Support letter from your principal or teacher

3. Include a biography with a maximum of 700 words that includes the following:

  • Background and interests of applicant
  • Applicant’s reasons for wanting to be an entrepreneur
  • Any work experience related to the applicant’s business idea
  • Applicant’s commitment to working and applying their knowledge in a rural northern setting
  • Any other information the applicant would like to share to help the selection committee come to a decision
  • Intended use of funds
